“What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:” – NIV 6-8:4 Psalms
When things are going well and smoothly, we tend to forget who we truly are. We obsess and enjoy the best that this life can offer. We are quickly enthralled with the beauty of this planet, and we are amazed and carried away by how the traditional ways of life have changed over time. On the other hand, we are fragile to be torn down into pieces with the viciousness of this world, especially when things are falling apart.
As I meditate on Psalms 8:4-6, I was moved by how God loves us so deeply, despite the sins, shortcomings, and stubbornness that we have done. I’ve asked God, “Why Lord, do You care and are so mindful of us so much? We don’t deserve you Oh God!
I can’t make out that You made us a bit lower than the angels, and apart from that, You made us rulers over the marvelous work of Your hand. Who are we, Oh God? We are filthy rags that are unworthy in Your sight. Yet the truth of His Word is so powerful that it resonated into my soul, and I ended up sobbing tears and thanksgiving.
As the lyrics of the song is echoing inside me.
It is good to remember the goodness of God.
It is good to remember the goodness of God.
He saves my soul and heals my broken body.
He came to die just to set me free.
It is good to remember the goodness of God.
What a thrilling, awesome, and incredible privilege to be called God’s people!
Father God in heaven, I’m amazed at how much the love You have in us. Indeed, we don’t deserve You, Oh God, because we are guilty of our sin but thank You for who You are. We are forever grateful for Your unconditional love, amazing grace, and endless faithfulness. Help us always to remember who we are in You. In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
