The Potter

“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” – Jeremiah 18:4 NIV

Aside from Isaiah 64:8, which I shared before, another inspiring analogy of the potter and the clay story that illustrates God’s powerful, unique, and inspiring ways to restore His people is our Bible verse devotion for today, Jeremiah 18:4.

Looking back, I was a complete mess and indifferent. I used to retaliate whenever someone did something wrong or said unpleasant things about me. I had innumerable issues. I had unsettled arguments. I had rough, unstable, difficult relationships. I asked God why He made me this way and for allowing poor things to happen. This resulted in me disconnecting from people around me. I was broken into pieces! Completely shattered! But God carefully restored me. He picked me up. Walked with me. God reshaped me into something new, the best version of myself. God reminded me that He is the master. He is skillful and caring for all His creations. Admittedly, I have flaws and shortcomings but with God’s grace and mercy, I am a work in progress. God never abandoned me but rather He patiently and continuously works with me and turns all my fears into faith, my imperfections into perfections, and my sorrow into singing. To God be all the glory and honor!

Father God, our loving and faithful God, thank You for embracing us in Your mighty arms despite our mistakes, our sins, and our brokenness. Thank You, Father God, for allowing us to see the beauty in our own eyes. Continue to change our hearts befitting to Your divine purpose and fix our differences so that we can fully encourage and influence others to establish a close and constant relationship with the Lord. Truly, Father God, we find comfort, peace, and joy in knowing you as our masterful Potter, our Healer, our Creator. Amen.
