The Harvest Field

“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

For the past month, I felt less involved in the harvest field of God because of long working hours, living alone, and facing the challenges of being pregnant. All these consoling to myself, I still felt guilty about it. One day, I prayed to God that I want to be involved more like before, but I simply can’t find myself doing so. Then this verse reminded me that the harvest field of God is not limited to the local church ministry with strategic planning and preparation or certain groups that you are praying for, but it is the wider world where God put me now and the circumstances I am in. A casual conversation with an unbeliever workmate is God’s way of involving me in the work of His kingdom. He is the Lord of harvest; He is the one touching the heart and drawing the lost soul to Him. All I must do as His sent worker is to have a willing heart and be ready to share the hope that I found in Jesus. Amen.
