Seek God

“Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:10 NIV

God will never abandon those who seek Him. “To seek God” means to reach out to Him, to surrender our hearts and minds to Him. In my previous devotion, I mentioned my struggles at work because of the deployment that affects not only my physical but also my emotional wellbeing. Adding up to the spice, my boss denied my planned leave. I was totally devastated.

But this verse is God’s way of speaking to me through Psalm 9:10, where I was reminded to entrust everything to the Lord, continue to seek Him, and cling to His promises knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Indeed, God is faithful! After persistent prayers, seeking Him through His Word, and advice from our DBS group, my boss agreed and gave me six-week leave, which never happened before in that department.

Sometimes when things didn’t go well as planned, we tend to panic and activate our survival mode. We tend to forget that God is moving amid our struggles and that He is working in ways we cannot see. He has a better plan for us and that He is true to His promises. This promise does not mean that if we trust God, we will never experience loss or suffering. It means that God will never leave us no matter whatever circumstances we face. The only thing we need to do is to reach out to Him and seek Him in everything.
