Rely on God

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. 3The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:1-4

Jesus was with the Holy Spirit in the wilderness after He was baptized and fasted for 40 days. At that time, the devil had begun tempting Him. The devil waited for 40 days to tempt Jesus when he was starving, thirsty, and exhausted by instilling doubt, and even challenged or demanded Him to turn the stones into a piece of bread.

From the verses, I may say that temptations will come when we are emotionally, physically, and spiritually weak. Sometimes, the enemy will push us to act on certain things by ourselves and strength. As I have noticed how Jesus responded and replied to the devil, this reminded me again to rely on God’s Words and promises – and when declared, it will bring us victory and will destroy whatever intention the devil has for our lives.
