“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26
“Pagoda!” “Taban!” “Tiring!” These were the words I have heard from my colleagues over the past two weeks. Indeed, with the crisis that our ward faced recently, I couldn’t agree more. But being drained doesn’t only mean the physical aspect. Because there comes a time when we face more challenging, difficult, or painful situations. We’ve all been there. Those moments are mentally, emotionally, or even financially depleting.
Psychology explains that a person’s response to cope with such grief or distress is through DABDA. First will be denial, followed by anger, bargaining, depression, and then acceptance.
As Christians and humans, we have or would also go through this. But what’s encouraging is that even through these moments, we are assured that we have a faithful, gracious, and loving God, who is always with us.
I love this stanza from an old hymnal song,
“He Giveth More Grace:”
“When we have exhausted our store of endurance
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.”
Prayer: Our Loving Father, we Thank You for being so gracious, loving and generous towards us. In the times when we feel that we are already depleted, You remind us again that we don’t really run out because You are our Source. Thank You for Your grace and for meeting all our needs. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
