Let us look at the book of 2nd Kings 5 about the story of Namaan, whom God healed. Namaan was a mighty warrior of the Aramean who invaded Israel during those time. He suffered from leprosy. But through the information from a young girl, Namaan’s wife maid told him to see the man of God, named Elisha, because it could heal him.
Namaan went to Elisha bringing gifts expecting Elisha would meet him, wave his hand over him, and instantly he will be healed. However, this was not God’s way of healing him. Instead, Elisha sent his messenger to give him instructions to follow. Even though he got angry about Elisha’s treatment, he still ”LISTENED and FOLLOWED.” This resulted in miraculous healing from leprosy and eventually glorifying God. The mighty warrior who used to invade Israel was a living testimony of the living God. In verse 17,
he said, “From now on, I will never again offer burnt offerings or sacrifices to any other god except the LORD.”
We often ask God to heal our sicknesses and protect our family, financial stability, job security, and plans. We pray for it and hope God will grant our request according to our plans. But have we ever wondered if our prayers were aligned with God’s plan? Are we seeking godly advice (this portrays girl maid and Elisha)? Or we neglect what we heard and do what we think is the best.
Let us not allow the enemy to mislead us. Always ask God to enlighten us in every step we make for His glory. Listen and follow.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us understand Your plans, will, and ways. Direct us to those who will give us godly advice. Amen
