In All Things

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose”. – Romans 8:28

Romans 8:28 is one of the most learned and quoted verses in the New Testament. This Bible verse brings comfort, direction, and hope to Christians whenever something unfavorable happens to them. Sadly, it’s also one of the misquoted and misunderstood verses within the Bible. Many people quote it incompletely as “all things work together for good” when in fact it says “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. Yes, God will work for the good of those who are doing His will. Are we living a pleasing life to God? Are we obeying His teachings? Are we serving Him with the gifts He has given us? All things might not be good, but God can and will use all things for good. In my life and career, I have gone through major problems such as losing a job, a devastating flood that inundated the place where I worked, etc. But in all cases, God has been faithful; He provided a better job and opportunities to serve Him. I pray that all of us remain faithful to God and continue to serve Him with love and joy.
