“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” – Proverbs 4:18 KJV
We miss many opportunities to share the word of God by waiting for some spectacular moment. We want to be like Nathan, the prophet, and say, “Thou art the man,” or like John the Baptist, who said, “She is not thy wife.” Jesus called John the Baptist, who gave a true testimony and described Him as “a burning and shining light.”
It should be our goal to be a burning and shining light, but let us look at Isaiah 42:3, which says, “The smoking flax shall not quench.” It speaks a motive and desire that the Lord can work with. It is a fire doing its best burn. It is a spark the Lord can fan into burning and shining light.
The Lord does not always give us a noted position, but He always provides us with a place to fill. He asks us to have a willing heart and mind that says, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” The Lord can fan the spark into burning and a shining light.
A little candle doing its best is better than no light at all.
Let us pray:
Our ever-loving God, the source of all goodness, we thank and praise Thee. Illumine our hearts that we may be able to share Your Word. Please give us the spirit of boldness and willingness to take action. Guide us Father, as we spread your Word to all within reach. Consume as Oh Lord, allow us to be Your mouth, hands and feet. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
