“The king asked him, ‘What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?’ Now Haman thought in his heart, ‘Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?'” – Esther 6:6 NKJV
Mordecai alerted King Ahasuerus about a plot against him by two eunuchs (Esther 2:21-23). As the king pondered over the attempt, he realized Mordecai had not been sufficiently rewarded for his actions. When asked what reward might be appropriate for such an action, Haman, the king’s advisor, thought only about himself.
Haman lived a self-centered life. He focused on furthering his career. He sought praise and wanted to receive as much credit for any successes he could get. He resorted to anything to get his way and this pride and arrogance led to his downfall.
Many Christians are walking around carrying the guilt of pride. They have forgotten to remain on the eyes of God and to accept God’s will over them. They look more into themselves instead of discovering the presence of God in their lives. They have never surrendered their lives to Him.
Complete surrender to God in everything, realizing He is the source of all things we have right now. God gives all resources, time, money, health, career, wisdom, family, everything. We can’t be prideful of anything. It’s all His!
Before I went on vacation to the Philippines, I had a request from the Lord. It was a long-standing prayer. I know it is impossible, yet God granted it. I know God is seeing me through the heart. How sincere am I on this. God knows how I asked Him to remove all the PRIDE that keeps on eating my heart on this matter.
I prayed for FORGIVENESS and HUMILITY; these are what we need. With complete surrender, I cried before the Lord and said,” I cannot do this alone.” Miracle happens when we put everything under God’s control.
God crushed the calloused heart of the one I’ve been praying for and turned it into flesh. This is it, Lord, I said. I see God’s answer from that long-time prayer request I had. Indeed, prayer works, and God’s blessings are visible when sins like pride, arrogance, etc., are surrendered before God. Indeed, He is good!
Prayer
Father, search my heart and deliver me from any pride. I humble myself before You. I declare that Jesus is the Lord of my life. In His Name, Amen.
