“A false balance and dishonest business practices are extremely offensive to the Lord. But an accurate scale is His delight.” – Proverbs 11:1
I am here in the Philippines for a short visit. Akala ko noong una, hindi na naman ako makakauwi dahil sa pagtaas ng Omicron cases all over the world which started December last year. Praise God, pahupa na rin ang cases dito sa Pilipinas and I believe kahit sa ibang part ng mundo ganoon na rin.
After a week-long home quarantine upon arrival, I was able to go out and accompany my sister to buy some necessities and food sa market. I met my old friends in the market in Divisoria, the fish and vegetable vendors na nakakasalamuha ko before when we still had our carinderia. Sila yung mga taong simple lang ang pamumuhay pero makikita mo yung desire na umangat kahit paano ang buhay. Sad to say, most of them were not honest in dealing with customers, marami ang nangdadaya sa timbang for a bigger profit.
I thank God for His Word that reminds and guides us on how to deal with daily living. His Words are direct to the point and simple. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 11:1. This verse is applicable kahit saan. Yes, even in the marketplace – honesty and integrity in the workplace, fair judgment when we face discrimination/impartiality, and a lot more.
We are to be reminded always to be fair in all our dealings. God must not be mocked; He sees everything we do even in darkness. We cannot escape His judgment. He is our just Judge.
Our heavenly Father, thank You sa mga paalala Niyo sa amin. Forgive us if we have been an instrument of dishonesty sa aming pamilya, kapatiran, at sa workplace. Remind us always by Your Word to live a life that is acceptable and pleasing to You. Give us the strength to overcome our weaknesses. Let Your light shine upon us so that we may be able to share your goodness/holiness with everyone. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
