His Good, Pleasing and Perfect Will

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2 NIV

It is so easy to conform in this world and follow others’ footsteps to guide our future. For instance, when I was young, my aunt told me to study well and focus on my dreams and future. I remember she asked me what my dreams and aspirations were. I replied,” I wanted to finish my studies first before getting married.” To my surprise, my aunt teasingly stated, “Oh, you want to get married!” She then realized that I would not follow her as a contented maiden.

At a young age, I know my desires and wishes. But to whom will I pattern my life? Until I became a born-again Christian, I began to be aware of what God has in store for my life. I realized that what I had before were worldly desires. I relied only on my own thoughts and strength. Looking back, I have changed significantly, especially in thinking and acting. I could say that the seeds of wisdom planted in my heart through studying God’s Word have gradually taken roots. I genuinely feel the power of the Holy Spirit guiding me in all circumstances. I am now following God’s will in my life, letting Him rule in me. I keep in heart and mind that His plans are better than mine. I will always wait for His good and perfect timing.

Prayers: My Lord God, I thank you even in my challenges. Strengthen me and rebuke the enemy away from my path. I will follow your ways, Lord. Your will be done in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
