God’s Promise Amid Struggles

“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” – Psalm 46:10

We are very familiar with this verse, aren’t we? Let’s focus on verse 10a, “Be still and know that I am God. When I think about this passage, it makes me feel the weight or heaviness of God’s Word because it takes a lot of courage to BE STILL when your current situation is bad. The struggle is real!

We, Christians, are not exempted from this situation. We also experience struggles, challenges, depression, and anxiety. But the good news is we have God who will help us to make it through our struggles. He will not remove us from that situation but He promises that He will be with us on that journey.

During my first week of quarantine, I’m so helpless – fever, severe headache, body pains, joint pains, and a lot more. It’s so hard to sit down, my back hurts. We also decided that my daughter will stay with one of our friends. My husband was so stressed out because my blood pressure was high. The moment when I can’t take the pain anymore, I find myself pouring out all that I’ve felt to God and He said, “Be still and know that I’m your God.” This verse helped me go through my COVID journey. Also, our church was keeping track of me and praying for me. I praise God for my complete recovery.

Father God, we praise You and magnify Your Name. You are our God, who calms the raging sea and who helps us in times of need. Lord, help us to trust You more amid our struggles. Help us to understand Your ways in our lives. We pray that in every circumstance we face, You are there to meet us and strengthen us. Lord, guide us in every decision we make. We need You more, Lord. Let Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
