God intended it for good

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:20)

My parents recently celebrated their 37th year anniversary. One of my sisters posted a greeting on Facebook and this statement struck me: “Thank you sa masaya at BUONG pamilya.” Looking back, I couldn’t imagine that we would be able to say those words to my parents. We were at the verge of being broken and separated but God has the best plans for us. We lost all our businesses, we went through a good financial ruin, however, these events led my parents back together.  All of the things that happened were hard for a child to understand.

Now, as I witnessed how my father shows affection to my mother and I am grateful, despite what has been taken from us and despite the struggles we went through. I thought that we were unfortunate not to experience the comfort other kids have, but the Lord made a way for us and our children, their children’s children to have a sense of stability and experience a whole and happy family. Our family’s testimony could be used by God to comfort those who are going through the same issues. It would be an encouragement to not be short sighted of the situation rather, to look beyond what the Lord must do in the future. Amen.
