“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 6:11 NIV
What first came into my mind when I read this verse is “Yes, I am fully armored by God.” For He has given me the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit and a prayerful heart. But are all these functioning? Are they strong enough to shield or protect me?
Accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior should not stop there, we need to build a strong relationship with Him through reading the Bible daily, communicating with Him through prayer, attending the worship service, having fellowship with others, and being a witness to others by sharing God’s goodness into your life. These partners in growing with our walk with God make our armor invincible against our enemies. We must always put God at the center of our lives. No schemes of the devil can penetrate God’s armor as we take care of it and make sure that it is strong and functioning.
