“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3 NIV
King David is telling us that we should put our trust in Him especially when we are afraid. Our vacation, as well as my upcoming examination, is getting nearer which causes my anxiety and fear to rise steeply. I feel like I’m in a frightening situation where I need to push a panic button and escape. We know that as humans, mai-experience talaga natin ang fear, whether we like it or not.
But this verse reminded me that fears must not be handled alone by working harder, trying to control things, living in denial, or worst of all, backing away from God and His promises. Instead, we can turn to God when we are afraid. I honestly admit that I’m afraid of what lies ahead. My fear draws me closer to the Lord through persistent prayer and His word. Reading God’s promises in the Bible assures us that we are not alone in this fearful place. Let us do our best and God will do the rest. We can put our trust in God because He promised to be with us in every situation and to never leave us. Jesus is the source of our courage and security, and He can turn our fear into faith.
