“Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.” – Proverbs 21:21, NLT

Two major remarks that people commented about me “medyo tumaba ka ngayon” and “49 ka na?” Honestly, the first remark was quite acceptable, apropos of the big changes in my body built, lifestyle, and age. Speaking of age, the second remark somehow puzzled me. It’s either a compliment or my looks suggested that I had all the worst dramas in life. In other words, tumanda ako ng bonggang-bongga. Hahaha! Indeed, my 49 years of existence and counting, taught me huge and inspiring lessons.

First and foremost is to spend a major quality time with family and true friends. Life is a gift. Share it with people who treat you well, with respect, with genuine acceptance, and with honesty. I truly appreciate and value my parents. Despite their physical and health limitations, they still managed to serve us with such unconditional love and do the things that they love to do that are so profoundly inspiring and naturally protective.

Second, the only stable and sure part of life is having an intentional relationship with the Lord. In life, we can experience struggles and fears. But remember, if we have faith and perseverance, we can be certain of our circumstances will be temporary, better, and comforting, and blessed days are coming.

Lastly, be contented. Don’t compare! Peace and joy can be achieved if we learn to appreciate what we have and not to want what we don’t deserve. We can always ask God anything, anytime. God has different plans for us. The best plan ever! God answers everything in His perfect time.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for the gift of life! Thank You for Your goodness, Your faithfulness, Your grace, and above all Your unconditional and infinite love. May we be able to continue to celebrate life in the most fulfilling and righteous ways. We pray that You will sustain us with wisdom and courage in relating to others. We pray that You will reign in our lives now and forever. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
