Being Diligent

“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.” – Proverbs 12:24 (NIV)

Some of us, including myself, may have struggled to transition from face-to-face to online classes. But, with time, I was able to acclimate especially because I was a junior high school student transitioning to senior high school and this was my first time studying in the Philippines.

I have reflected about myself and compared how I was in JHS and SHS. I must admit that I was somewhat dependent on my classmates, particularly those who excelled. But now it’s time to start a new school for my Senior High, which entails new teachers and classmates. Since I didn’t know anyone, I tried my best to be independent. I didn’t want to be reliant on anyone else.

The Bible verse from Proverbs got me thinking about how putting in some effort and working hard pays off. It’s gratifying to receive a good mark, especially when you know you put in a lot of effort. But let us remember my fellow Gen Ys that I have not only achieved my goals on my own, but also with God’s wisdom and guidance. God loves us as His children and will never abandon us. He wants us to be diligent in whatever we do.

Let us give our best and all our efforts in everything we do. May it be in our studies or work, but most importantly in serving God!
