“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 9)
God reiterated to Joshua the statement “Be strong and courageous” the third time in verse 9. I could imagine the feeling of Joshua back then as he received God’s command. He must have been overwhelmed, and sort of afraid that’s why God repeated Himself to Joshua to reassure Him that He will be with him wherever he will go, thus he needs to be strong and courageous.
Today, I am overwhelmed and a little bit afraid of what is ahead of me. The great obstacles or challenges I would say that I will face soon to get my children back home to be reunited with me in a country new to me. But then God reminded me of this passage, that there is nothing I should be afraid of for the Lord my God will be with me wherever I go. Being reassured by the One who holds my future, my tomorrow, and my everything gives me the excitement and the confidence that I will always be alright because He got my back.
Heavenly Father, thank You for constantly reminding me of Your promise that You will be with me wherever I go. Help me not to forget all the wonderful works You have done in my life. Grant me the peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me honor You and glorify You in every milestone of my life. Amen.
