“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
As a continuation to the devotion “An Opportunity” that trials are inevitable, this is my response to that. Currently, I am facing struggles and trials in my workplace. I have been deployed to a very hectic environment that is affecting my mental and emotional health. I was placed in the same position 11 years ago. I was taken out of my comfort zone and transferred to another workplace against my will. I was a new Christian at that time, and I felt very down and questioned God, “Why me?” But God has a far better plan than ours.
Now that I am in the same situation, these verses reminded me of what should my response be. Pray without ceasing. We must always be in an attitude of prayer, whatever situation we are in. In everything, give thanks. Again, the word “everything” means everything. We must be thankful for what God is doing in our lives. As Christians, whatever we are going through, we must always live with an attitude of joy, in a constant attitude of prayer, and with an attitude of gratitude. That is God’s will for us.
Lord God, help us to possess the attitude of praying without ceasing, rejoicing always, and an attitude of gratitude, for this is Your will for us. Amen.
