An Instrument and a Vessel

“He said, ‘I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Make straight the way of the Lord,” as Isaiah the prophet said’” (John 1:23).

The above verse is John’s response to those asking about him. He knew that He was not the Messiah, rather, was appointed to pave the way for coming of the Lord. I was reminded of the following:

Firstly, that when people would ask about me, I must immediately and directly point them to Jesus as the situation permits.

Secondly, my prayer is to leave an impact to my colleagues particularly the locals. This was also a reminder that the way to the Lord is not rough (unlike in the wilderness). It is not through skills or some sort of deeper spirituality. Kagaya ni John, I pray that I would also be an instrument for them to see that the road to the Lord is smooth through the calling and inviting grace of God.

Lastly, I was also reminded to pray for and thank the Lord of those who shared the Gospel and discipled me on the early years of my conversion.
