“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” – 1 John 3:1
I remember, at a tender age of six, how my father would carry me upon his shoulder in the morning. It is in between those times of “being awake and asleep”, or perhaps I pretended to be asleep because up until now I can still vividly remember how it feels like it was only yesterday. My father’s lavish love which I felt with no words.
I thank God for allowing me to experience a glimpse of His love through my earthly father. But I praise and thank God more because of His “agape” love for me – that even though I am sinful and undeserving, He patiently pursued me, forgave me, and welcomed me to be His child.
Today, I am blessed to be lavished with the perfect love of my Heavenly Father, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Good News of eternal life. Amen
