The Women’s Winning Fellowship, entitled “Nourishing Your Mind, Body and Soul,”      focused on women’s wellness was held at Shatti Qurum on December 9, 2023.

Amidst the busy schedules of being a mom, a housewife, a career woman and a ministry leader, we are all facing health challenges such as mental problems, inactive lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits and diseases.

We praised and thanked God for the core leaders of the Women Ministry who prepared a program for us to remind us to have a healthy lifestyle and to maintain good health.

During the assembly, the beautiful women of God gathered around and were asked to have their blood sugar, blood pressure, weight and waistline checked. All were enthusiastic and excited in doing the activity.

Our lovely emcee, Sister Geraldine greeted everyone warmly; next, Sister Eva opened the program with a prayer; then, our very own Women’s Ministry Head, Sister Gretchen Geron gave the Introduction.       The members also expressed their warmest welcome to the first-time visitors.

Coach Chel led the exercise, where she      demonstrated simple techniques of warming up to basic workout. Her energy and vibrant personality encouraged everyone to follow her lead. Everyone was motivated and had      fun and enjoyed the exercises. We praised and thanked God for everyone’s strength and endurance. Indeed, exercise makes our body energized and in good condition.

The      fellowship theme was      “Nourishing Your Mind, Body and Soul”.

Sister Cathy Layon – on nourishing the soul –      caring for our body is vital;      it is also important      that we care for our soul.  We nourish our soul by focusing on      Jesus, our Creator.

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul”.  John 3: 1-2 ESV

We must practice soul care by filling ourselves with our Lord. By studying      and understanding His word and reading the scripture with love, going to the Lord with reverence, having a heart completely surrendered to Him, and spending quality time with Him –      we nourish our spiritual health.

Sister Kath Brimon’s – on nourishing the body –      she explained that chronic diseases have been the common problem in our society today and currently the major cause of death among adults in almost all countries and with premature death as early as 50 years old, according to WHO.

This statistic is a wake-up call for us as we sometimes take our health for granted. So we should prioritize our health by eating      well-balanced and healthy food which includes eating fresh vegetables and fruits and including regular exercises in our daily routine which helps maintain our desired fitness, blood sugar and immunity level.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” Proverbs 16:9

“Entrust your plans to God and remember that you’re planning to commit to a healthier lifestyle for the glory of God.”      We magnify      God for this valuable information from Sister Kath.

Sister Doneth Garcia – on nourishing the mind – poor mental health causes depression and anxiety and other mental problems. For example, when we spend more time on social media, we tend to compare ourselves to other people and it contributes to poor mental health.

She shared some helpful tips and applications on how to take care of our mental health by using an acronym, MIND, which stands for:

M – Meditation keeping your inner peace and thinking happy thoughts.

I – Involving yourself in activities      like reading books which helps boost your mental fitness, adopting new hobbies and learning something new.

N – No screen time which allows you to spend more quality time with your family and friends,

D – Decluttering goes beyond simply creating physical space in our homes. It also plays a crucial role in enhancing our overall health, particularly in terms of mental clarity and emotional health. The same goes with the people who intentionally or unintentionally hurt our feelings and causes us to have emotional baggage.  We declutter our emotional baggage by setting boundaries, being kind, forgiving and compassionate.

“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind”. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Matthew 22:37-39.

We praised and thanked God for these women who shared their valuable insights and overflowing information on how to care for our mind, body and soul. We also remembered that      God is our source of all our strength and health.
