The Oman Evangelical Christian Church (OECC) celebrated its 36th anniversary on April 26, 2024, at the Radisson Hotel, with 87 members and guests gathering with the theme, “OECC without Borders: Spreading the Gospel Wherever God Leads.”
The celebration began at 4:30 PM with Sis. Cathy Layon and Sis. Jacquie Lardizabal leading the congregation in praise and worship—afterward, Bro. Louie Layon, one of the church elders, welcomed everyone and made an introduction about the celebration. After that it was followed by the video recording from the previous members, the audience enjoyed a video recording from former church members now living abroad, including the Leal Family from the USA, Hipe Family from Canada, Bongcac and Inocencio couples from the United Kingdom, Acedo Family from the Philippines, and Bro. Ham Mapa from New Zealand. Each family shared how God equipped them during their time at OECC and how they continued to spread the gospel wherever they are.

Bro. Toto Gallardo’s sermon, “Scattered for a Purpose ” from Mark 16:15 and Acts 8:1-4, encouraged everyone to plant the seed of God’s Word wherever they go, to pray for the churches they join, and to share the good news of salvation with those they meet. His message reminded everyone that God’s mission for His people remains the same, even in times of change.
The second part of the program was just as memorable, hosted by Sis. Vanesa, Sis. Ranzel, and Bro. Rey. Video greetings from former OECC members and a video presentation looking back at OECC’s history were also played. Sis. Chel Peralta shared a testimony about how she came to know Christ through the church, thanks to the prayers and support of fellow believers.
One of the evening’s memorable moments was the graduation ceremony for the Hope for Kids program, where OECC children were recognized for learning to share the gospel. The celebrations continued with performances from different fellowship groups within the church, including the Kids and Youth groups and others from Al Khuwair, Royal, Azaiba, Bausher, SQU-Mabela, Azaiba, and Mawaleh. The evening was filled with fun and laughter, especially during the games organized by Sis. Iris and Bro. Fil Faculan, which everyone enjoyed.

As the night drew to a close, Bro. Ray Banga closed in prayer and a final chorus of worship songs. The evening ended with group photos, capturing the joy and unity of the event. The 36th anniversary of OECC was not just a celebration, but a reminder of the church’s commitment to spreading the gospel wherever God leads. The congregation looked forward to the future with faith, ready to continue the mission God had given them. To God be all the glory!
