“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 NIV
As radiologic technologists, the first job that we do is x-ray. When computerized machines were not yet on the market, we usually develop the x-ray film in a darkroom. In the darkroom, a red safelight is only visible. Kaya naman, we’ve trained our eyes to work in the dark while making the x-ray films safe from unnecessary exposures.
Once in my radiologic technologist student life, a senior student who’s also a dear friend once said to me, “Alam mo ikaw, para kang safelight. Napapansin ka dahil ikaw lang ang light sa darkroom.” Nang sinabi niya yun, we were in college and academic competition was inevitable. Kaya yung iba pwedeng they will try to pull others down just to aggrandize themselves.
Until now, when I’m going through similar situation sa work, kapag ang ka-work ko gusto maging bida sa mata ng doctor namin at kailangan ako ang maging masama, I don’t defend myself. Dahil nakikita pa rin ang pagkakaiba sa aming mga trabaho. I always remind myself that I am like a safelight kapag may mga ganitong sitwasyon. Ako ang nakikita kasi ako ang may liwanag. Ganoon din ang naging buhay ni Jesus Christ, He was cursed and executed, but His light was never overcome by darkness.
Kaya naman, our light will not vanish kahit ano pa ang pagsubok ang ating pagdadanan.
Lord, we pray that Your light in us will always shine. May we overcome the darkness in any form as You light our path sa bawat daraanan namin. Thank You for being our safelight in the world full of darkness. Amen!
