“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds. Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” – James 1:2-3

We all have been given different challenges or tests in this life. At times we may say, “This is too much for me to bear” or “When will this end?”

I have this mindset as I am going through a difficult situation right now. Since my mom-in-law passed away, many things have changed including the setup in my in-laws’ house. It’s way too far to take, things were not getting along well and a lot more.

Yet, as I read through this passage, I was reminded that the things I am going through are to make my faith stronger. This will give me the strength to endure and stay hopeful in what our good and faithful God can do. This passage reminded me that even if I am in pain, even if I am hurting, I can always find strength and joy that isn’t based on the circumstances but on the faithful Lord – all-powerful, loving, and full of righteousness and justice.

Lord, thank You for being the source of our strength, joy, and hope. May we continue to embrace whatever challenges in our lives as an opportunity to be closer to You, to be more of You, and less of ourselves. May we magnify You in our lives more and more each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
